Art Journaling and Remembrance

  • ArtsConnect 909 North Kansas Avenue Topeka, KS, 66608 United States (map)

Utilizing Basic 101 Art Journaling Techniques.

This is the first class of this type to be offered by the Tonantzin Society. Art journaling and exploring loss, grief, and remembrance. We are in the season of death, dying back and rebirth. The time of year where Dia de los Muertos is celebrated. Dia de los Muertos is a vital linkage in Mexican/Chincanx culture to help us stay connected to our ancestors and others in our lives that have crossed over to the next realm. At your own pace and rhythm of this four-hour class, you will use art to remember those no longer with us. This class is set for 4 hours and will include:

  1. Teaching 2 different methods of art journaling

  2. Take time to experiment with the methods

  3. Poetry reading and music

  4. Break and snack time

  5. Start your own Dia de los Muertos Remembrance Journal

All supplies are provided. Feel free to bring small pictures, or special ephemera. Participants will create 3-4 pages of remembrance. Students can then take home their journals with blank pages available for future Dia de los Muertos art. This class is $25 per person (limited to 7 adults).

Registration by Eventbrite is required.
